What is Summariser?

This summarizer cuts a long text down to its main ideas so you can read it in less time: an article, a report, a study topic or a long email.

The Quick method picks the most important sentences from the text itself and works in English and Spanish. If the text is in English, you can also use an AI model that writes a brand-new summary in its own words.

How to use it

  1. Paste the text you want to summarize.
  2. Choose the method: Quick or AI model (the latter for English texts only).
  3. Choose the length: Short, Medium or Long.
  4. Copy the summary or download it as .txt.

Advantages

Technical details

The Quick method is an extractive summary using TextRank: each sentence is a node in a graph, edges measure the overlap of content words (excluding stop words, with light lemmatization) and PageRank scores the most central sentences, with a small boost for the first sentence and a penalty for very long ones. It keeps 20, 35 or 50% of the sentences (minimum 1, 2 or 3) and returns them in their original order. The AI model method is abstractive: it uses DistilBART-CNN (about 300 MB, one-time download), trained in English on CNN/Daily Mail news; it needs at least 40 words and handles long texts in up to 12 chunks.

Frequently asked questions

How can I summarize a text quickly?

Paste the text, keep the Quick method and choose the length. The summary appears instantly, ready to copy.

What's the difference between the Quick method and the AI model?

Quick selects the most important sentences from the original text. The AI model writes a new summary, but it only works well with English texts.

Can I summarize texts in Spanish?

Yes, with the Quick method. The AI model is trained in English and doesn't give good results in Spanish.

How long is the summary?

Short keeps about 20% of the sentences, Medium 35% and Long 50%.
