What is Random numbers and draws?

Here you have four random tools in one: a random number generator between two values, virtual dice, a coin to flip heads or tails, and a name picker.

It's perfect for raffles, social media giveaways, board games or deciding who does the dishes tonight. Every result is fair: all options have exactly the same probability.

How to use it

  1. Choose the tab: Numbers, Dice, Heads or tails, or Name draw.
  2. In Numbers, set the range, how many you want and whether they can repeat or should be sorted.
  3. In Dice, choose 1 to 6 dice and the type, from D4 to D100.
  4. In Name draw, paste one name per line and choose how many winners and alternates.
  5. Click the button to generate and copy the result.

Advantages

Technical details

All results come from the Web Crypto API's cryptographic generator (crypto.getRandomValues), with rejection sampling to eliminate modulo bias: every integer in the range [min, max] has exactly the same probability, even in ranges up to 2^53 by combining 32-bit words. Non-repeating numbers are obtained with a set of discards or, when a large part of the range is requested, by shuffling with the Fisher–Yates algorithm. The name draw also uses Fisher–Yates on the list and takes the first ones as winners and the next ones as alternates. Dice can have 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20 or 100 sides, and the coin keeps a history with the count and percentage of heads and tails.

Frequently asked questions

How do I run an online draw between several names?

Go to “Name draw”, paste one name per line, choose how many winners and alternates you want and click the button. You can remove duplicate names before drawing.

Are the numbers truly random?

They're generated with a cryptographically secure, unbiased generator, so every number or option has exactly the same chance of coming up.

Can I generate numbers without repeats?

Yes. Turn on “No repeats”. If you ask for more numbers than there are in the range, the tool warns you.

What dice can I roll?

From 1 to 6 dice at once with 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20 or 100 sides, the usual ones in role-playing games.

Can I use it to pick an Instagram giveaway winner?

Yes. Copy the list of participants, paste it into the name draw and choose the number of winners and alternates.
