What is Remove audio?

This tool removes all the sound from a video and leaves the picture exactly as it is. It is useful for getting rid of background noise, conversations or music before sharing a video or adding a new soundtrack.

It is very fast because it does not reprocess the picture: it only removes the audio track, so the video keeps exactly the same quality.

Technical details

ffmpeg is run mapping only the first video stream (-map 0:v:0), discarding the audio (-an) and copying the video without re-encoding (-c:v copy). That is why the process is almost instant and the picture is bit-for-bit identical. The container is kept if it is MP4, M4V, MOV, WEBM, MKV or AVI; other input formats are saved as MKV. +faststart is added for MP4 and MOV. If the file has no audio track, the action is disabled. Limit of 500 MB.
