What is Markdown to HTML?

This editor lets you write in Markdown, a simple text format that uses symbols like # for headings or ** for bold, and instantly see how the formatted document looks.

It's handy for drafting a README, documentation, notes or articles. When you're done, you can copy the HTML to paste into a website or download the .md file or a complete .html page.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your Markdown into the editor, or open an .md file.
  2. See the preview on the right (on mobile, switch between Editor and Preview).
  3. Click Copy HTML if you want to paste it into another site.
  4. Download the document as .md or click Export .html.

Advantages

Technical details

Markdown is converted with marked using the GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) dialect: tables, task lists, strikethrough with ~~, autolinks and fenced code blocks with a language hint; single line breaks are not turned into <br>, as in CommonMark. The resulting HTML is sanitized to remove scripts and dangerous attributes before it is displayed or exported. The .html export produces a complete document with a built-in typographic stylesheet. You can open .md, .markdown and .txt files up to 10 MB. The draft is saved automatically as you type.
