What is Text or Markdown to PDF?
If you write notes, documentation or study notes in plain text or Markdown, turning them into a presentable PDF usually requires a word processor. Here you paste the content or open the file and get a nicely laid-out PDF instantly.
Markdown headings, lists, quotes, code blocks and tables become a formatted document, and you can choose the page size, font, line spacing and whether you want page numbers.
How to use it
- Paste your text or open a .md or .txt file.
- Choose the mode: “Markdown” or “Plain text”.
- Adjust page size, margins, font, font size and line spacing.
- Add an optional title, turn on page numbers and name the file.
- Click “Create PDF” and download it.
Advantages
- Markdown support: headings, lists, task lists, quotes, code, tables and links.
- Selectable text and working links in the PDF.
- Serif or sans-serif typeface, with configurable line spacing and margins.
- Optional page numbers and title.
Technical details
Markdown is parsed with marked and laid out with jsPDF using a custom engine with line wrapping, page breaks, headings, ordered and bulleted lists, task lists, quotes, code blocks and inline code in a monospaced font, simple tables, bold, italic, strikethrough and working links. A4 or Letter page, margins from 10 to 40 mm, Helvetica (sans-serif) or Times (serif) font from 8 to 16 pt and line spacing from 1.1 to 2. Standard PDF fonts with WinAnsi encoding are used: some symbols are replaced with equivalents (for example, → with ->) and emojis or unsupported characters are omitted, with a warning showing how many characters were affected.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a Markdown file to PDF?
Open the .md or paste its content, leave the mode on “Markdown” and click “Create PDF”. Headings, lists and tables are converted with formatting.
Can I convert a TXT to PDF?
Yes. Choose “Plain text”, open the file or paste the text and create the PDF. Line breaks are respected.
Why don't emojis show up in the PDF?
Standard PDF fonts don't include emojis or some symbols. They are left out and the tool tells you how many characters couldn't be displayed.
