What is Barcode?

Barcodes are used to label products, track inventory or print shipping labels. With this generator you type the number or text, choose the barcode type and download it ready to print.

If you use EAN or UPC, you don't need to calculate the last digit: the tool adds it for you and, if you type it yourself, checks that it is correct. You can also change the size and colors and show or hide the text below.

How to use it

  1. Choose the format: CODE128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, CODE39, ITF-14, MSI or Pharmacode.
  2. Type the value; you will see instantly whether it is valid.
  3. Adjust the bar width, height, margin, colors and whether the text is shown.
  4. Download the barcode as PNG or SVG.

Advantages

Technical details

Drawing is done with JsBarcode. EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and ITF-14 accept the digits without the check digit (12, 7, 11 and 13 respectively) and calculate it with the GS1 modulo 10 algorithm, or the full digits, verifying that the check digit is correct. CODE128 accepts any ASCII character; CODE39, uppercase letters, numbers, space and - . $ / + %; MSI, digits only; and Pharmacode, an integer between 3 and 131,070. You can set the module width (1 to 5 px), height (20 to 300 px), margin (0 to 40 px), human-readable text and bar and background colors. The download can be PNG or vector SVG.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create an EAN-13 barcode?

Choose EAN-13 and type the first 12 digits. The 13th, the check digit, is calculated automatically.

Which barcode type should I use for my products?

For retail sale, EAN-13 is used in Europe and UPC-A in the United States, with numbers assigned by GS1. For internal use or inventory, CODE128 is the most versatile.

Can I put letters in a barcode?

Yes, with CODE128 (any ASCII character, no accented letters) or CODE39 (uppercase letters, numbers and some symbols). EAN and UPC accept numbers only.

Which format should I download for printing?

SVG is vector-based and prints sharply at any size. PNG is handier for pasting into documents or websites.
