What is Sign PDF?

Signing a contract, an authorization or a form no longer means printing it, signing by hand and scanning it. With this tool you create your signature and place it directly on the PDF.

You can draw it with your mouse or finger, type your name in a handwritten style or use a photo of your signature on paper, with the option to remove the white background. Then you drag it to the exact spot and adjust its size.

How to use it

  1. Drag in the PDF you want to sign.
  2. Create your signature: “Draw”, “Type” or “Upload image”.
  3. Go to the right page and add the signature.
  4. Drag it into place and resize it with the blue dot.
  5. Click “Sign PDF” and download the signed document.

Technical details

The signature is generated as a PNG image with a transparent background: freehand drawing with adjustable thickness and color, text in handwritten, brush or italic styles, or a PNG, JPG or WEBP image with optional white background removal. It is embedded with pdf-lib on each chosen page, at the position and size defined as a fraction of the visual page and taking its rotation into account. A signature used several times is embedded only once in the file. It is a visual signature (simple electronic signature): it does not add a digital certificate or a cryptographic seal. Accepts PDFs up to 200 MB.

How do I sign a PDF without printing it?

Open the PDF, draw or type your signature, put it in place and click “Sign PDF”. You download the document already signed.

Is this signature legally valid?

It is a simple electronic signature, valid for many private documents such as authorizations or quotes. For procedures that require a signature with a digital certificate, such as some government ones, you need a certificate.

Can I use a photo of my signature on paper?

Yes. Choose “Upload image” and turn on “Remove white background” so only the stroke remains.

Can I sign on several pages?

Yes. Go to each page and add the signature as many times as you need, for example to initial every page of a contract.
