What is Placeholder image?

When you design a website, an app or a mockup, you often need filler images at the exact size before you have the final photos. This generator creates those images instantly, with the dimensions written in the center so you know which slot they fill.

You choose the size or a common social media format, change the colors and text, and download the image or copy its SVG code to paste straight into your project.

How to use it

1. Choose a preset or type the width and height in pixels.
2. Change the background and text color.
3. Type your own text or leave the default dimensions.
4. Adjust the text size and turn on the diagonals if you like.

Technical details

Images are generated from an SVG with centered text, automatically scaled to take up at most 80% of the width and height (adjustable from 20% to 150%), with multi-line support and optional diagonals at 25% opacity. Sizes from 1 to 8000 px per side. Presets: Open Graph (1200 × 630), Instagram square (1080 × 1080) and portrait (1080 × 1350), Story or Reel (1080 × 1920), YouTube thumbnail (1280 × 720), X header (1500 × 500), LinkedIn banner (1584 × 396), web banner (728 × 90), Full HD (1920 × 1080) and avatar (400 × 400). Exports as rasterized PNG, JPG or WEBP, or as vector SVG.

What is a placeholder image?

It is a filler image used in designs and mockups until the final images are available. It usually shows its dimensions in the center.

Which format should I download it in?
