What is Rotate pages?

It is common for some pages to come out sideways or upside down when you scan a document. With this tool you straighten them without having to scan again.

You click the thumbnails of the pages you want to rotate, or rotate the whole document at once to the left, to the right or by 180 degrees. The rotation shows up instantly in the preview.

How to use it

  1. Drag in the PDF.
  2. Choose how much each click rotates: 90°, 180° or 270°.
  3. Click the thumbnails of the pages you want to rotate.
  4. For the whole document, use the “All pages” buttons.
  5. Click “Apply rotation” and download the PDF.

Technical details

Rotation is applied by changing each page's /Rotate entry with pdf-lib, adding the chosen angle to the page's existing one and normalizing it to 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees. Since the content is not modified, text, images, links and forms stay intact and the file size barely changes. Accepts PDFs up to 200 MB; those with only owner restrictions are decrypted automatically, and those that ask for a password to open must be unlocked first.

How do I rotate a single page of a PDF?

Click that page's thumbnail until it is in the right position and click “Apply rotation”. The rest stays the same.

Use the “All pages” buttons: left, right or 180°. Then apply the rotation and download.

Is the rotation saved or does only the view change?

It is saved in the file. The downloaded PDF will open with the pages rotated in any reader.

Does rotating a PDF reduce quality?

No. Only the page orientation changes; its content is not reprocessed.
