What is Rotate and flip?

It is common to have photos that show up sideways or scans that came out upside down. With this tool you straighten them in a moment: turn left or right, flip them around or create a mirror effect.

Changes show up instantly on the thumbnails and apply to every image you have added, so you can fix a whole batch of photos in one go.

How to use it

  1. Drag in the images you want to rotate.
  2. Click −90°, 90° or 180° until they are the right way up.
  3. If needed, turn on horizontal or vertical flip.
  4. Click “Apply” to process all the images.
  5. Download the rotated images one by one or as a ZIP.

Technical details

Rotation is done in multiples of 90° (0, 90, 180 and 270), swapping width and height where needed, and the flip is applied in screen space after rotating, just like in the preview. EXIF orientation is applied before rotating, so the result looks the same in any viewer even if it ignores the Orientation tag. The image is re-encoded in its original format (HEIC becomes JPG) at quality 0.92 for JPG, WEBP and AVIF, and lossless for PNG. Accepts JPG, PNG, WEBP, AVIF, BMP, GIF and HEIC up to 50 MB per file.

How do I rotate a photo that shows up sideways?

Add it and click 90° or −90° until it looks straight in the thumbnail. Then click “Apply” and download it.

How do I mirror an image?

Turn on “Flip horizontal”. If you also need to turn it upside down, use “Flip vertical”.

Can I rotate several photos at once?

Yes. All added images are rotated with the same settings and can be downloaded together in a ZIP.

Does rotating an image reduce quality?

Not for PNG. JPG, WEBP and AVIF are saved again at high quality (92%), so the difference is imperceptible.
