What is Number pages?

Numbering pages makes a document easier to read, print and cite, and for many applications, assignments and tenders it is mandatory. With this tool you add page numbers to any PDF in seconds.

You choose where the number appears, in what format and from which page it starts counting, for example to skip the cover page. A preview shows you how it looks before saving.

How to use it

  1. Drag in the PDF.
  2. Choose the position: top or bottom, left, center or right.
  3. Select the format: “1”, “1 of N”, “Page 1” or “Page 1 of N”.
  4. Adjust size, margin and color, plus the page to start on and the starting number.
  5. Click “Number pages” and download the PDF.

Advantages

Technical details

Numbers are written with pdf-lib as vector text in Helvetica, from 6 to 36 pt, in any color and with a margin of 3 to 40 mm from the edge. Positioning is calculated in each page's visual space, taking its rotation into account, so the number appears upright and in the right corner even if the page is rotated. Numbering can start on any page and with any starting number; in the “of N” formats, the total is the last number assigned. The rest of the content is not modified. Accepts PDFs up to 200 MB.
